Yola Court remands 4 persons accused of killing woman over witchcraft allegation

Four persons accused of killing a woman over allegation of witchcraft have been remanded in prison facility by a Magistrate Court in Adamawa state.
Presiding judge of Chief Magistrate Court, Magistrate M.A Adamu at a sitting in Yola Friday issued the remand order against the defendants including; Bala Bulus,Simon Zakaria,Dauda Adamu and John Ayuba who were said to have conspired to terminate the life of the deceased.
Judge Adamu said that the first information report (FIR) before his court has revealed that the four accused persons allegedly conspired to commit offences of criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of fire arms and culpable homicide contravening the laws of the land.
The Police FIR further explained that the defendants who are residents of Pallam community in Madagali local government area allegedly invaded the house of their victim, late Esther Luka of the same address armed with a single barrel gun and Dane gun while her her at close range on sighting her in the house.
Accordingly the victim was said to be rushed to Madagali cottage hospital for medical attention but unfortunately she was declared dead as a result of the gun-shot aimed at her on the chest hence the arrest and arraighment of the defendants.
During court’s proceedings, Insp Umar Abdullahi who held brief for Insp Hamza abdullahi, applied that the content of the offences be read to the defendants to enable them enter their plea.
Afterwards,the defendants pleaded guilty to the charges against them which made the presiding judge to ordered for their remand in prison custody and adjourned the case to the 2nd October, 2025 to enable prosecution transmit case diary to DPP for legal advice.
