YOSPIS, AMG Foundation Advocates for Collaborative Efforts in Cervical Cancer Eradication

By Hannatu Sulaiman Abba

In its annual Cancer Awareness program, the Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Disease and Social Vices (YOSPIS) AMG Foundation has called for increased collaborations to combat cervical cancer effectively.

During the panel discussion at the event held in Kano state, Zainab Nasir Ahmad, the Executive Director of YOSPIS, highlighted the prevalence of misconceptions surrounding cervical cancer vaccines, emphasizing the need to educate the public about their efficacy.

Despite Kano’s status as the most populous state in Nigeria, there has been a noticeable lack of public concern regarding cervical cancer, even amidst numerous awareness campaigns.

Zainab Nasir Ahmad stressed that achieving acceptance and understanding in Kano requires intensified collaborative efforts to address the issues related to cervical cancer.

Malam Suleiman Jalo, the Director of AMG Foundation, reinforced the call for collaboration, revealing that the Aminu Magashi Garba (AMG) Foundation has sponsored a series of radio programs focused on cervical cancer, targeting rural residents in Kano.

The foundation has actively partnered with various cancer organizations over the years, aiming to eradicate the disease by providing preventive methods and fostering community awareness.

The event, attended by thousands of cancer advocates, youth, politicians, celebrities, and influencers in the state, served as a platform to underscore the importance of collaborative initiatives in the ongoing fight against cervical cancer.
