Zamfara Insecurity: Bandits Kill Soldiers in a Fresh Attack

Reports say, suspected armed bandits have invaded a settlement of Wanzamai of Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where they killed nearly five soldiers, the state’s information commissioner says.

 

Wanzamai village had in recent times been facing series is of gunmen’s attacks and many residents were believed to have been killed, while others migrated to undisclosed places for safety.

 

Malam Ibrahim Dosara, the state’s Commissioner for Information, confirmed the attack in an interview with BBC Hausa.

 

Although Dosara dis not reveal the number of security forces that were killed, some reports say, soldiers were responding to a distress call when the criminals opened fire on their vehicles.

 

The armed men reportedly made away with the rifles of the slain soldiers.

 

Locals said vehicular movements were disrupted along the 100 km Gusau – Funtua road for some time.
