Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara State has sworn in 18 newly appointed Commissioners, 11 Special Advisers, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Head of Service and 3 Permanent Secretaries to serve under his administration in running the affairs of the state.

The swearing in ceremony which held at Government House Gusau yesterday, appeared first of it’s kind as all the newly appointed officials must swear in the name of Almighty God that, they had never rendered in any form any support that assisted bandits in carrying on their nasty operations that consumed thousands of innocent lives.

After the constitutionally recognized Oath of Office led by Chief Justice of the state, Justice Kulu Aliyu Anka, then followed by a religious oath which was recited over by the State Grand Khadi, Dahiru Mohammed Gusau that, the newly appointed officials had never engaged in activities in favour of banditry, kidnapping and or cattle rustling.

“And I had never enjoyed killing of innocent lives or destruction of legally generated properties and will never do so, and that if I had in anyway assist banditry, may Almighty God curse me to the extent I will never achieve my dreams here in the world and the hereafter”, part of the oath has read.

Speaking shortly after the swearing in, Governor Matawalle, said he found it necessary to swear the newly appointed officials as according to Islamic rites so that he would be contended that all his assistants were completely innocent and will serve the government’s policies as expected.

“The priority of my administration now is a fight against banditry alongside other heinous crimes in the state, therefore, I need people that are completely innocent so that together we move to continue giving unreserved support to the security agencies whose personnel are presently fast succeeding.

Governor Matawalle also insisted that all the dissolved Commissioners should appear to take the same oath with a view to ensure his administration did not work with bad eggs who might have engaged in banditry activities during their stay in office as Commissioners or Special Advisers.
