Zamfara: Police recover 10 AK47, arrest bandits, Collaborators, notorious Arms supplier

Zamfara State Police Command in collaboration with Police Tactical Team from FIB/STS Force Headquarters Abuja has succeeded in the arrest of bandits, collabolarators and notorious female arms supplier who has been supplying bandits camps across Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger and Kaduna States.

Briefing newsmen on the development at the Zamfara Police Command Gusau yesterday, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba El kana, said the female arms supplier was arrested at Gada Biyu area, under Bungudu LGA with 991 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition conveying from Dabagi Village in Sokoto State to be delivered to a notorious bandit’s kingpin called Ado Alero who has been terrorizing Zamfara and neighbouring states.

CP El kana who stated that his Command in joint operations with the Police Tactical Team from Force Headquarters Abuja, having received credible information, have successfully arrested notorious bandits after serious gun battle where many of them have fatally wounded while number of others escaped with gun shot wounds.

“While we parade some of the suspects arrested having completed their investigation, others who are undergoing discreet investigation could not be paraded now until investigation about their matter is concluded, it may interest you to know that following interrogations of the suspects arrested, the Police Tactical Operatives carried out tactical operations at different bandit’s enclaves in the State.

“The operations led to a serious gun battle with the bandits where unspecified numbers of bandits were fatally injured with others escaped with possible gunshot wounds while in the process, 10 assorted AK-47 rifles with magazines containing 143 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the scene.

“On 3rd November, 2021 Police Tactical Operatives of the Command along with operatives from FIB/STS Force Headquarters, Abuja led by DSP Hussaini Gimba arrested one Babuga Abubakar ‘M’ of Mayana area, Gusau LGA. The suspect was arrested in Gusau based on intelligence, that he has been collaborating with notorious bandits such as Lawali Na’eka ‘M’ a ring leader operating in Maradun LGA and Almeriya ‘M’ a notorious bandit’s kingpin operating in Bungudu.

“Upon interrogation, suspect confessed that prior to his arrest by the Police, himself, Lawali Na’eka and Almeriya conspired and went to Wanke village in Gusau LGA with over one hundred (100) operational motorcycles where they rustled over two hundred and forty (240) cows belonging to different individuals. Suspect is undergoing discreet investigation”, CP El Kana has informed.

Other arrested criminals as according to their confessional statements, were the bandits’ suppliers of items including women wrapper, brocades, soap and rain boots, as well as recovered large quantity of illicit drugs, this is addition to other confessions by bandits’ collaborators who provide information upon which most of criminal activities were carried upon.
