Zango Constituency kicks against continuity in Zango Kataf’s LGA chairmanship Position

From Abdullahi Alhassan, Kaduna

Against the backdrop of the request for a second term by the current Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of the Kaduna State Mr Francis Sani who hails from Zonkwa Constituency.

Stakeholders from Zangon Kataf Constituency say the status quo be maintained concerning the zoning arrangement agreed on between the two constituencies.

The zoning arrangement provides that the Zangon Kataf Local Government elective Chairmanship position rotates between the two constituencies after one is done with a tenure.

The position is contained in a communique made available to Newsmen by the stakeholders after an expanded political meeting of the Zangon Kataf Constituency of the People’s Democratic Party,PDP held last week.

The Communique jointly signed by key stakeholders, including the former Group Managing Director NNPC Engineer Andrew Yakubu, former Minister of Environment Mrs Lawrencia Mallam, the 2023 PDP Deputy governorship candidate in Kaduna State Dr John Ayuba, current member representing Zango Kataf Constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly Mr Samuel Kambai,

Others include Chairman of Wards Chairmen in the Constituency Abdullahi Ado Bakamix, and Barrister Timmy Kambai the secretary of the committee says the elective office of the chairman is due to the Zango Kataf constituency by same zoning arrangement and that it has been zoned to Ikulu Ward exclusively.

The statement directs all political Wards and polling unit leaderships to apply the same strategies in their wards and polling unit’s congresses accordingly.

The communique adds that the zoning of all the offices to the various wards of the Zangon Kataf Constituency of the PDP provides that the party’s chairmanship has been zoned to Unguwan Gaiya Ward, Youth leader to Zaman Dabo Ward, Vice Chairman to Zango Urban Ward while other offices were zoned to Zonzon, Ikulu and Gora Wards respectively.
