Kaduna Government to Ditch Federal Allocation: KADIRS Chairman

From Abdulahi Alhassan, Kaduna

Jerry Adams, Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), announced the state’s decision to no longer depend on Federal allocations for funding projects.

At a Ramadan Iftar Dinner with Kaduna State student leaders, Adams assured attendees of the government’s commitment to self-sufficiency.

Citing challenges stemming from inherited debts, Adams outlined strategies to boost revenue generation. These efforts aim to fund projects independently, including salary payments, as Kaduna faces economic downturns and insufficient federal allocations.

Professor Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University, revealed plans to introduce Distance Learning Programmes, aligning with global education standards. These initiatives aim to broaden access to education and offer courses in emerging fields like artificial intelligence and sustainable development.

Ummar Waziri, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, emphasized the government’s focus on improving teacher and student welfare, promoting quality education, and fostering unity among diverse societal groups.

Hajiya Amina Sani Bello, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Affairs, underscored the importance of prioritizing students and education. She highlighted the government’s dedication to engaging with students and ensuring their inclusion in governance.

The Iftar Dinner, attended by government officials and student leaders, served as a platform for dialogue and appreciation for Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to education development.
