From Umar Dankano, Yola
As 2024 draws to a close, the Adamawa State Police Command has reported significant achievements in combating crime, including the arrest of 715 suspects and the prosecution of 292 offenders for various criminal activities.
Addressing journalists in Yola, Commissioner of Police (CP) Morris Dankwabo disclosed that the arrested individuals were linked to offences such as armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, and culpable homicide.
He attributed these achievements to the strategic measures adopted by the command, grounded in police professionalism and ethics.
Highlighting the strategies, CP Dankwabo mentioned community policing, intensified patrols, raiding of criminal hideouts, quick responses to distress calls, visibility policing, and stop-and-search operations.
Additional measures included rescue operations, the creation of security checkpoints at strategic locations, collaborations with sister agencies and local vigilante groups, and the deployment of vehicular and foot patrols.
The CP noted that since his assumption of duty on February 14, 2024, as the 32nd Commissioner of Police in Adamawa, he has remained committed to reducing crime to its barest minimum.
“When I came on board, I pledged to tackle crime and criminality in the state, and today, I can confidently say we have made significant progress,” he said.
Dankwabo further emphasized the importance of showcasing the command’s successes to the public, allowing for an appraisal of their efforts in maintaining security and order in the state.
