In a strong show of political support, the Joint Concerned Youths of Gulani Local Government Area of Yobe State has officially endorsed Mohammad A. Maina as their candidate for the State House of Assembly, representing Gulani constituency.
The endorsement took place during a town hall meeting held on Saturday in Bara, where the group also collectively raised the sum of ₦3000,000 as a contribution to his campaign. The youths described Maina as a symbol of the growing political awareness and active civic engagement among young people in the area.
The gathering was led by Idris Garba Gulani, also known as Zannah Dallatu of Gulani, and attracted energetic young participants from all 12 wards of the local government. While the event celebrated Maina’s rising influence and community efforts, it also served as an important platform to discuss youth participation and inclusive governance ahead of the 2027 general elections in Yobe State.
Attendees engaged in passionate conversations about civic duties, political literacy, and the essential role of young people in shaping future leadership. Many described the forum as a timely initiative that strengthens grassroots involvement in democracy and encourages well-informed political decisions.
The youths stressed that sustainable development in Gulani can only be achieved through greater civic awareness and active youth inclusion in governance structures. They called on leaders and stakeholders to establish more platforms for dialogue, leadership training, and political education at the local level.
Participants noted that their financial contribution reflected a shared determination to enhance youth participation in democratic governance. They also reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful involvement in the electoral process, emphasizing the need for issue-based campaigns and responsible political conduct as the 2027 elections draw near.
The town hall meeting ended on an optimistic note, with calls for unity, peaceful engagement, and ongoing civic education for youths across all wards of Gulani Local Government Area.
