2027:Seyi Makinde For President Posters Flood Kano
By Abdullahi Yusuf
Posters of Governor Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde of Oyo State have taken over some major streets of Kano city promoting his Presidential bid ahead of 2027.
Some of the posters read:”2027:His Excellency Engineer Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde for President Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Others read: “2027:To move Nigeria forward Seyi Makinde is the answer.”
The posters dotted the road leading to Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA),the Wappa Roundabout, the Dangi Roundabout and the Kantin Kwari textiles market, among several other places in the state capital.
The pasting of the posters followed a press conference held last week in Kano by a group known as “Nigeria Youths Awareness Group Makinde 2027 (NYAG Makinde 2027).
During the briefing, the group said going by the political permutations of 2027 presidential election, only the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde can move Nigeria forward.
“Hence the need for all patriotic lovers of democracy irrespective of party affiliations,to rally around him to realize the objective.
“We have met as different groups and have agreed to have a common front for Seyi Makinde for President 2027. We are a moving train and no stopping us until we achieve our objective of a Seyi Makinde presidency,”
Alhaji Lawal Abdullahi, National secretary of the group said.
Abdullahi said the group had consulted prominent politicians and eminent personalities across the country, and that they have their support.
“The Seyi Makinde 2027 project is a massive movement which will catch and spread like wildfire.
“We have concluded all necessary arrangements, the posters, billboards, handbills and other branded products are ready, by next week in-sha Allah, they will flood the entire Northern Nigeria.
“Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Borno, Yobe and Gombe states will explode for Seyi Makinde next week. Other states will follow subsequently. Our movement will takeover Northern Nigeria for Seyi Makinde after which the Southern Nigeria will be visited,” the national secretary said
Some residents of the capital city welcomed the initiative, saying that it would enrich the conversation ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
One of them is Alhaji Ibrahim Usman who opined that Makinde as a Nigerian citizen has the right to contest the 2027 presidential poll.
Other residents, Alhaji Abba Muhammadu and Mr. John Ezekiel expressed similar views, describing the Makinde initiative as a welcome development that would enable Nigerian voters to make their choice.
Muhammadu added that Makinde would make a good president in view of his reported “excellent performance” as Governor of Oyo State.
