The Vulnerable People Support and Development Initiative (V-PeSDI) has partnered with the Kanawa Educational Foundation for the Disabled to expand its efforts towards promoting an inclusive society.

This development was revealed during a courtesy visit by the V-PeSDI team to the Kanawa Foundation’s office. The visit aimed to discuss the newly established Department for Persons with Disabilities under the Kano State Ministry of Women, Children, and Persons with Disabilities, created through the dedicated efforts of the Commissioner, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi HOD.

V-PeSDI Coordinator, Hannatu Suleiman Abba, described the Kanawa Educational Foundation for the Disabled as one of the most renowned and reliable non-governmental organizations in Kano State, with a decade-long commitment to supporting people with disabilities.

She emphasized that the visit highlights the importance of persons with disabilities in society and the need to involve critical stakeholders in ongoing advocacy efforts.

The Executive Director of the Kanawa Educational Foundation for the Disabled, Alhaji Ibrahim Garba Madu, expressed optimism that the partnership with V-PeSDI will strengthen their initiatives, particularly in changing societal mindsets about young children with disabilities.

Furthermore, he noted that the collaboration would open new avenues for advocacy within relevant ministries and among critical stakeholders across the state.
