The Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano, witnessed the graduation of 462 cadets, who were formally inducted into the Nigeria Police Force as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP). The event, presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marked the culmination of five years of intensive academic and professional training for the cadets.

This is contained in a statement on Sunday by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The Passing Out Parade (POP), held at the Academy’s parade ground, drew a wide array of dignitaries from across the country, including state governors, national lawmakers, military and paramilitary leaders, and traditional rulers. Also in attendance were senior police officers, both serving and retired, as well as family members and well-wishers of the graduating cadets.

In his address, Vice President Shettima conveyed President Tinubu’s confidence in the newly commissioned officers, urging them to uphold the principles of integrity, professionalism, and respect for human rights in their service.

The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to reforming the security sector and supporting the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining law and order, while also improving the welfare and development of its personnel.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, Ph.D., who played host at the ceremony, expressed his appreciation to President Tinubu for his ongoing support in the effort to reform and strengthen the Nigeria Police Force. He also praised the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, and the Police Service Commission for their collaboration in driving these reforms.

In his remarks, IGP Egbetokun commended the graduating cadets for their dedication and discipline during their rigorous training, which encompassed both academic studies and hands-on policing skills. He reminded the new officers that the core of policing lies in discipline, emphasizing that their future success as law enforcement officers depends on their character, discipline, and professionalism.

The graduation marks a significant moment for the Nigeria Police Force, with the newly commissioned ASPs expected to play a crucial role in the ongoing efforts to enhance internal security and uphold the rule of law across the nation.
