59-Year-Old “Ghost” Fraudster Apprehended by Police in Adamawa

A 59-year-old habitual fraudster, Muhammad Abubakar, notorious for defrauding unsuspecting members of the public, is now in police custody in Adamawa state.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, in Yola on Tuesday. The statement revealed that the police arrested the 59-year-old man on February 5, 2024, for frequently defrauding members of the public.
According to the statement, Muhammad Abubakar, also known as Malam Sabo, is a habitual 419 scam artist who specializes in defrauding individuals in a disguised manner. The suspect reportedly conceals his identity by pretending to be a ghost, engaging his victims with different voices.
“The suspect, at times, changes his voice sound to that of a woman or child’s to dupe his victims. Recently, he tricked and duped one Abba Bale of Demsawo the sum of three hundred thousand (N300,000),” the statement highlighted.
While cautioning the public to be cautious about those they engage with in their daily activities, Nguroje stated that the case is under investigation, and the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution once the police interrogators complete their job.
