Access Holdings CEO Herbert Wigwe involved in fatal helicopter crash
Herbert Wigwe, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Access Holdings Plc, along with his wife, son, and others, was involved in a helicopter crash near the Nevada border in California on Friday.
Also in the crash was Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the former group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group).
The crash, involving a Eurocopter EC130 registered to Burbank-based tour company Orbic Air, occurred around 10 pm, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
According to reports, six passengers were onboard and no survivors have been found so far.
This is the second accident in California under a week after a Navy helicopter carrying five marines crashed on Tuesday night during a storm, killing all.
Wigwe, known for his extensive roles in the banking sector and as the founder of Wigwe University, previously served in various leadership positions within Access Bank before assuming his current role as GCEO.
