Tinubu to attend 37th AU summit in Addis Ababa on Thursday

President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja on Thursday for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to partake in the 37th ordinary session of the assembly of the African Union (AU) heads of state and government.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the president, Tinubu will engage in high-level meetings with other African leaders discussing institutional reforms of the African Union, peace and security, thematic issues such as climate change, and the continental body’s participation and priorities in the G20.

The theme for this year’s summit is “Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa.”

The statement further added that, Tinubu will attend an extraordinary summit of the authority of heads of state and government of the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) in his capacity as the chairman of the regional body.

Accompanying the president on the trip will be several ministers and other top government officials.
