Gov. Buni Issues Warning Against Peace Breach in Yobe State
From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has issued a stern warning, emphasizing that the government will not tolerate any actions that could jeopardize public peace in the state.
The directive was conveyed in a statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, Director General of Press and Media Affairs.
Governor Buni emphasized the government’s commitment to the safety and security of its citizens, emphasizing that the state cannot afford to experience any further breaches of peace.
He highlighted the state’s recovery from a prolonged security challenge and urged everyone to avoid actions that could threaten the hard-earned peace.
“We have had a very bitter experience of a breach of peace for quite a long time in the state. We cannot afford to have any more in the state. We are recovering from a protracted security challenge. We must avoid any issue capable of threatening our hard-earned peace,” Governor Buni advised.
He specifically called on members of organizations and associations to channel their grievances through constituted authorities rather than taking the law into their own hands.
The governor also directed parents and guardians to educate their wards about the dangers of causing disaffection and disrupting public peace, warning that the government would take decisive action against anyone posing a threat to peace in the state.
In addition, Governor Buni directed key officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, heads of security agencies, Yobe State Road Transport Agency (YOROTA), and the leadership of Tricycle (Keke Napep) Commercial Operators Association, to establish clear and unambiguous measures to enhance citizen security and improve the operations of tricycle commercial operators across the state.
