Plans Ongoing For Sustainable Power In Varsities – Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says arrangements are ongoing between the Federal Ministry of Power and the Federal Ministry of Education to workout modalities to develop sustainable power to boost research in the universities through compressed natural gas.
Tinubu disclosed this in his address at the 38th Convocation of the Bayero University,Kano(BUK) held at the institution’s premises on Saturday.
Represented by the Minister of Education, Prof.Tahir Mamman, the President also reiterated the readiness of the government in promoting Education and sustainable development.
He said the administration is working towards revamping vocational and Tsangaya centres to improve Education and expand skills among youths in the country.
In his remarks at the occasion,the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, congratulated the graduands and advised them to consider themselves as leaders of tomorrow by making best use of their degrees.
He called on members of the National Assembly and other elected officials to emulate the Deputy Senate President by investing in education for the development of the country.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof.Sagir Abbas, announced that the Institution is now ranked the 5th best University in Nigeria in the 2024 Universities Assessment ranking by the Times Higher Education.
Prof.Abbas said the Institution would not relent in its determination to improve its visibility on the global scene.
“We will continue to ensure quality and standard as well as improved facilities for enhanced teaching and research,” he said.
While congratulating the graduands, the vice chancellor urged them to behave well, having been found worthy in both character and learning, adding,”Be worthy ambassadors of BUK anywhere you find yourselves.”
During the ceremony, a total of 11,284 qualified candidates from 18 Faculties and the School of Continuing Education received degrees,while two distinguished personalities – the President of African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, and Deputy Senate President and Senator representing Kano North, Barau Jibrin, were awarded honorary doctorate degrees.
