The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of the principal suspect in the abduction and murder of Bello Bukar Adam, a staff member of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).
According to a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspect, Sadiq Zubairu, 35, was arrested on May 6, 2024, at 9:00 am in Hotoron Arewa Quarters, Nassarawa LGA.
The victim, Bello Bukar Adam, 45, was reported missing on May 5, 2024, after leaving his home in Zawaciki Housing Estate, Kano, in his Toyota Corolla vehicle. His body was later discovered abandoned at the outskirts of Eastern Bypass, around Bechi Village in Kumbotso LGA.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect conspired with two others to lure the victim to his house, where they tied him up, hit him with sticks and sharp iron, and left him motionless. The suspect then loaded the body into the boot of the victim’s vehicle and threw it off by the roadside.
The suspect confessed that he had deceitfully collected N3 million from the victim on the pretext of securing a job offer for him, but had no means of returning the money, leading to the murder.
The Police Commissioner, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, commiserated with the deceased family and reaffirmed the commitment of the Command to combating crime in all its forms.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or items to the nearest Police Station or through the Command’s emergency contact numbers and online media platforms.
