Federal Medical Center Gwarzo Scales Through 1st Reading at Senate
The Nigerian Senate has introduced a bill to establish a Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Gwarzo, Kano State, a move aimed at enhancing healthcare services in the region.
Sponsored by Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I Jibrin, the bill successfully passed its first reading during Wednesday’s plenary session, alongside five other bills.
Senator Jibrin expressed his optimism that the proposed FMC Gwarzo will significantly address the medical needs of the local population, aligning with his commitment to improving the welfare of his constituents.
In a related development, the Senate confirmed the appointments of DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu, Onyemuche Nnamani, and Fredrick Taiwo Lakanu as chairman, secretary, and member of the Police Service Commission, respectively.
Senator Jibrin commended the rigorous screening process conducted by the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, chaired by Senator Abdulhamid Mallam-Madori, and expressed confidence in the nominees’ exceptional qualifications.
He emphasized the need for a swift recruitment process to boost the Nigeria Police Force’s personnel and enhance national security.
