Protest: Plateau CP Holds Emergency Meeting with Stakeholders

The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbemiga Emmanuel Adesina, has convened an emergency meeting with stakeholders.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Supretendant of Police forces, Alfred Alabo, at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess Jos, on Tuesday, said it was to ensure a peaceful and secure environment ahead of the planned protest.

The Commissioner explained that meeting aimed at engaging stakeholders in dialogue to prevent the planned protest or ensure it is conducted peacefully.

Adesina appealed to the public to refrain from violent protests and emphasized on the importance of maintaining law and order. He invited protesters to discuss peaceful arrangements with him.

He assured that his Command remains committed to upholding citizens’ rights to peaceful assembly as well as ensuring safety and security.

The statement however urged the public to Call the police emergency numbers to report suspicious incidents during the protest period.

It disclosed that those In attendance at the meeting were representatives from the Traditional Council, women groups, Jamatul Nasir Islam, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Plateau Youth Council, Civil Society Groups, Non-Government Organizations, PCRC, Security help groups, and the media.
