World Breastfeeding Week: Nutrition International Sensitizes Jigawa Communities

A non-governmental Organization known as Nutrition International in collaboration with Jigawa state government embarked on a massive awareness and sensitization campaign on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding to children in Jigawa state.
Speaking during the sensitization held at Jigawar Tsada Community area of Dutse local government, Nutrition International’s state coordinator Mr Patrick Odeh urged lactating mothers and other male adult to adopt exclusive breastfeeding for the health benefits of their children.
He explained that, as part of their activities to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week (1st to 7th August) Nutrition International selected Jigawar Tsada Community to create more awareness on the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding both socially and economically.
Mr Patrick Odeh maintained that a number of eighteen lactating mothers and fifteen male adults were selected and sensitized on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and to be agents of change in their community.
He then seeks more support from community members to embrace exclusive breastfeeding for the benefit of their children and for better development.
The sensitization campaign commenced with a courtesy visit to the ward Head of Jigawar Tsada Alhaji Shu’aibu Adamu and urged him to support the move for a successful campaign.
While delivering his remarks, the Ward head of Jigawar Tsada commended Nutrition International and urged the community members to support the effort for better development in the area.
