Sallah: Jos Chief Imam attributes sacrifice of ram to peace and unity

Deputy Chief Imam of Jos Central mosque in Plateau state, Sheikh Ghazali Adam, has attributed the significance of Ram slaughtering to peace and unity.
Adam, In a phone interview in Jos to mark the Sallah celebration, said the sacrifice humbles and enables all Muslims to live in peace, unity and to also obey Almighty Allah in all ramifications.
He maintains that it signifies sacrifice to God Almighty Allah as an instruction given to prophet Abraham to sacrifice his only son to him, which he obeyed, but God surprised him with a ram as the holy sacrifice.
He admonished Muslims to always adhere to and obey instructions from God, just as Abraham did to receive its rewards.
The Deputy Chief Imam explained that the ram’s meat is expected to be shared during the festivity into three portions and be distributed to the needy as charity, neighbors and friends and immediate family.
He said it is expected that every Muslim performs the ritual of sacrifice of one Ram, but those that can do more are at liberty of doing that.
The cleric was also quick to note that though, it is not compulsory because the under privilege who are unable to do so, are at liberty to buy beef from the market or liaise with others and settle for a camel.
He called on the people of Plateau to live in peace and harmony for the progress of the State and country at large.
He also advised people to live according to their means and avoid extravagant ways of life in the present difficult economy been experienced. Adding that he is trusting God that it will soon ease.
Our correspondent reports the celebration is generally low key as this can be attributed to financial difficulty experienced in the country through peaceful.
Recreation centers are open but there is low patronage on the part of fun seekers, just as vehicular movements are also low though, compared to yesterday were tricycles were restricted to Maintain law and order during all festivities day in the state.
