The Executive Chairman of Birnin Kudu Local Government, Alhaji Muhammad Uba Builder, has inaugurated a new legislative chamber and sworn in 11 newly elected councilors.
The councilors took their oaths of office, administered by Magistrate Sa’idu Galadima, during a ceremony at the Birnin Kudu Local Government Secretariat.
Alhaji Builder urged the councilors to support his five-point agenda, which he pledged would improve the lives of Birnin Kudu residents during his tenure.
He noted that his five-point agenda was derived from the 12-point agenda of Governor Malam Umar Namadi, with a focus on education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, and water resource management.
Key leadership positions in the newly formed council include Ukasha Sa’idu Shirin as Speaker, Sani Umar as Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Shu’aibu as Majority Leader, and Nura Shehu as Chief Whip.
In addition to the inauguration, the chairman launched a skills acquisition program aimed at empowering 130 youths, part of his efforts to promote self-reliance among the younger generation.
Speaking at the event, the Secretary to the Jigawa State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim, expressed concern over recent acts of vandalism and theft at the local government secretariat.
He urged the newly elected councilors to work diligently, remain patient with their constituents, and ensure the delivery of democratic dividends to the people.
