KNSG to Open Digital Centers in All 44 LGAs, Kickstarts Project with Pilot Program

In a move to bring digital access closer to communities across Kano State, the government has announced plans to open CBT-ICT (Computer-Based Test and Information and Communication Technology) centers in all 44 local government areas (LGAs).
This announcement was made by Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, during a training workshop on “Entrepreneurial Development To The Head Officers And Their Correspondent Centre For Women Development In 44 Local Government Areas Of Kano State”.
Represented by the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Hon. Muhammad Usman Tajo, the Deputy Governor shared that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has given the green light for the first center, designed as a pilot project to test the waters before rolling it out to the other LGAs.
He explained that launching a pilot center allows the government to make sure it’s something communities can really get behind and sustain. “We want to learn what works and what doesn’t, and then we’ll use those lessons to expand the project in a way that sticks,” he said.
Gwarzo added that the ultimate goal is for communities and LGAs to take ownership by setting up maintenance plans that will help the centers thrive over time.
Also speaking, Hassina Datti Kwankwaso, the workshop’s convener, emphasized that the training was set up to help small business owners gain essential entrepreneurial skills they can easily pass on to others.
She pointed out that, often, people who get government training don’t share what they learn, which means fewer people benefit. “We’re here to change that. We want to make sure more people can learn and grow by teaching others what they know” she said.
Giving his remarks, Alh. Ibrahim Muhammad Kabara, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, added that the seminar is about more than just business skills, it’s about giving participants tools they can apply to benefit their communities.
He encouraged everyone to dive into the training, saying, “Take what you learn back to your communities. When you grow, they grow too.”
PRIME TIME NEWS reports that the training was organized by the Integrated Arewa Youth Entrepreneurs with support from the Kano State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
