Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has declared September 2023 as the departure date for the first batch of postgraduate students sponsored by the state government to pursue advanced studies abroad.

The announcement was made during a Sallah homage visit by the Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, and his council at the state government house.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, in a statement released by his Acting Press Secretary, Hisham Habib, emphasized the administration’s commitment to prioritize the education sector and provide high-quality education to the youth in the state.

“As part of this commitment, the government plans to reopen 20 previously closed institutes of learning, as well as schools for Islamic studies and technical colleges across the state” Hisham revealed.

During the visit, the Emir of Bichi expressed his gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir for the warm reception and took the opportunity to discuss several important issues.

He requested the provision of fertilizers to farmers at a subsidized price, highlighted the importance of launching a tree plantation campaign, and urged the drilling of boreholes to address water scarcity.

Additionally, the Emir encouraged the state government to attract more investors to contribute to the state’s growing economy.

He also commended the Governor for appointing Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, a member of the emirate, as the Secretary to the Kano State Government.
