A Calabar native, Malam Abdullahi Muhammad, who has lived in Kano for 29 years, has received support from the Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

Malam Abdullahi, who was subsequently disowned by his family, has built a new life in Kano with his wife and nine children.

The Ministry’s Commissioner, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani (HOD), represented by the Permanent Secretary, Hajiya Amina Yusuf Yargaya, welcomed Malam Abdullahi to her office and provided food items, including flour, rice, maize, and palm oil, to support his family and his wife’s cooking business.

In a statement issued to newsmen in Kano, the Ministry’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Halima Sani Gadanya, revealed that the Ministry also paid the family’s house rent for the year.

Malam Abdullahi and the caretaker of his residence expressed their profound gratitude to the Executive Governor, His Excellency Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for establishing the Ministry to assist vulnerable and less privileged individuals across the state.

In appreciation, Malam Abdullahi pledged to name his future daughter Amina or Yusuf, in honor of the Executive Governor and the Ministry’s support.

In the statement, the Permanent Secretary, on behalf of the Commissioner, appealed to the public to assist the State Government in supporting vulnerable populations. “Your contributions, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in the lives of those in need,” she said.
