Beneficiaries of the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Results Area II in Jigawa State have signed a utilization agreement to ensure the proper use of the support provided.
Speaking during the distribution of incubators to beneficiaries in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area, the State FADAMA CARES Coordinator, Dr. Aliyu Inuwa, emphasized the importance of the agreement in achieving the intervention’s objectives.
Dr. Inuwa expressed concerns over the past misuse of government interventions, underscoring the need for accountability. He noted that the agreement acts as a bond between the government and the beneficiaries, ensuring resources are used effectively to achieve the goals of economic recovery and sustainability.
The coordinator disclosed that NG-CARES Results Area II has supported over 47,790 individuals in Jigawa State to recover from the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. These include farmers and entrepreneurs engaged in rice, maize, millet, sorghum, poultry, goat rearing, sheep farming, and other livelihood ventures. Support also extended to items like processing machines, water pumps, fingerlings, apiculture equipment, drilling machines, food items, and personal protective equipment.
Dr. Inuwa emphasized that the program’s beneficiaries would be closely monitored to ensure compliance with the agreement, warning that any violations would attract legal consequences.
“This initiative is not just about recovery; it’s about creating sustainable livelihoods for our people. Beneficiaries must adhere to the guidelines to ensure the program achieves its objectives,” he stated.
