Kano Deputy Governor Assumes Office as New Higher Education Commissioner

Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has officially assumed office as the new Commissioner for the Ministry of Higher Education.

This development follows directives from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf after a recent reshuffling of the State Executive Council, which reassigned Comrade Gwarzo from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to the Ministry of Higher Education.

Speaking at the Ministry, the Deputy Governor emphasized the critical role of higher education in shaping Kano’s future, describing it as a key sector that citizens rely on for educational advancement.

He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to prioritizing education, highlighting the 2025 budget, where education received the largest share of allocations.

He further stressed that the government is focused not only on increasing access to education but also on ensuring its quality, aiming to produce a vibrant and competent younger generation capable of driving the state’s progress.

The Deputy Governor commended the global competitiveness of Kano State indigenes currently studying abroad, celebrating their achievements as a testament to the state’s educational strides.

Comrade Gwarzo praised the accomplishments of his predecessor, acknowledging the significant progress made within a short period. He pledged to build on these legacies and further enhance the Ministry’s impact.

Additionally, he sought the cooperation of ministry staff, warning that negligence of duty would not be tolerated.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor expressed gratitude to Governor Abba Yusuf for entrusting him with another opportunity to contribute to Kano State’s development.

Welcoming the new Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Hadi Bala Yahaya, MNI, assured him of the staff’s support and cooperation.

He congratulated Dr. Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo on his appointment and expressed optimism for the Ministry’s continued success under his leadership.
