Kano Govt. To Spend N4.6bn On New Classrooms’ Construction In 2025

Kano State Government is to spend over N4.603 billion on the construction of new classrooms,among other education projects,across the state during the 2025 fiscal year.

The state Commissioner of Planning and Budget, Alhaji Musa Sulaiman Shanono, disclosed this while giving the breakdown of the 2025 budget of the state as signed into law by Gov.Abba Yusuf.

Shanono said the amount is from the sum of more than N205.944 billion allocated to the education sector in the state’s total budget estimates.

He said the total amount allocated to the education sector represented 29 percent of the total budget size,and had surpassed the UNESCO declaration of 26 percent.

Similarly, he said,the sum of more than N1.380 billion would be spent on the procurement of pupils’ furniture for the newly-constructed classrooms.

He also disclosed that the state government will spend N2.210 billion on school feeding programmes in all early child care and primary schools.

The commissioner said this is to improve the nutritional status, learning capacities and enrollment/retention of school-aged children through community participation.

During the fiscal year,he further revealed, the government would spend the sum of over N1.010 billion on the renovation of 100 classrooms across the state.

He also disclosed that the state government would spend the sum of N160 million on the provision of computers and digital gadgets to Model Primary Schools in the state.

“This clearly shows our commitment to rejuvenate the sector through injection of more resources towards restoring the entire education system in the state through improvement of teaching and learning outcomes,” the commissioner said.

He added that the approved budget of the state for 2025 has a total size of over N719.755 billion.
