Plateau APC threatens to sanction Anti-Party members

Plateau State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Rufus Bature, has warned that Members who engage in anti-party activities during the 2023 general elections in the State will face sanctions by the party’s constitution.
Bature stated this in Jos on Thursday during a Major stakeholders’ meeting held at the State party’s secretariat Kalwa House.
He noted that the party is aware of certain members who worked against its interests in the last election and emphasized that disloyalty will not be rewarded.
He explainedthat “We have convened this meeting to rub minds and reflect on the outcome of the last general elections and share thoughts on the journey thus far and the way forward.
“Let me at this juncture, express the party’s gratitude to members of Gur great party who, despite all the onslaught against the party stood firm in its defence which led to our victory in the last election. Our party was rigged out especially the gubernatorial election through devious electoral manipulations and wicked propaganda.
“That we lost the gubernatorial! election at the polls is a very temporary setback. We want to assure you all that by God’s grace, given the wide range of electoral malpractices perpetrated against the party, we remain confident that we shall reclaim our mandate at the election petition tribunal. This affects not only the gubernatorial election but also the House of Assembly and National Assembly seats.
He maintained that the party has also expressed dismay over the actions of self-proclaimed leaders who have been shifting loyalties in pursuit of federal appointments, particularly ministerial positions. Such behaviour has been viewed as an attempt to reap benefits without contributing to the party’s growth.
The Party Chairman added that the party has uncovered desperate attempts to divide its ranks through the creation of a parallel party office. Bature affirmed that the party is fully aware of these clandestine activities, which the APC strongly disapproves of.
“I would advise them to abandon their selfish interests, as the united party will not allow self-seeking individuals to disrupt its unity,” Hon. Bature remarked.
He praised the former governor of the state, Simon Lalong, for his composed demeanour and resilience in the face of attacks from these self-serving individuals. Bature expressed appreciation for Lalong’s statesmanship and assured him of the party’s unwavering support, acknowledging him as the indisputable leader of the party in the state.
Bature also commended the gubernatorial candidate, Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, and his deputy, Pam Bot Mang, for their patience and exemplary leadership. He assured them that the party would stand with them during the tribunal proceedings.
Former Governor of Plateau State Simon Lalong while Speaking said the All Progressive Congress is still strong and grounded in Plateau State.
According to him, all those spreading falsehoods of crisis in the party will soon be put to shame.
“All those that thought the APC is finished in Plateau state will soon be put to shame, we are strong together, and APC will continue to stand strong”. He said.
Prime reports that Dignitaries present at the meeting were APC members represented at the National Assembly, State Assembly Members, party loyalist amongst others.
