From Umar Dankano, Yola

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a man in his late 30s, Mubarak Abdulkadir, a resident of Shagari in Yola South Local Government Area, for alleged fraud and possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.

Police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a press release issued in Yola on Tuesday.

He stated that on February 1, 2025, Ahmed Salihu, the manager of Two Star Filling Station in Mubi, reported that the suspect purchased fuel worth ₦97,850 and collected an additional ₦10,000 under false pretenses, pretending to make payment via POS. However, he fled the scene in a Honda CRV with a foreign registration number, HJ58URU.

“Following a swift response by gallant officers attached to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Mubi North, the suspect was apprehended at Mubi Toll Gate. During interrogation, he failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the vehicle’s ownership and had no documents to prove his claims,” the statement read.

The Adamawa State Police Command has called on anyone with a rightful claim to the vehicle to visit the Divisional Police Headquarters, Mubi North, with valid proof of ownership or contact the command’s Public Relations Officer for further inquiries.
