FRSC Fails to Enforce Traffic Laws as Overloaded Vehicles Flood Borno Roads

The enforcement of road safety laws in Borno State appears to be deteriorating, as overloaded vehicles continue to drive into the city unchecked, raising serious concerns about public safety.

Across key checkpoints, including Njimtilo, Banishaik, and Welcome to Yobe, drivers blatantly flout traffic regulations with little to no intervention from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Instead of enforcing the law, some officers at these checkpoints allegedly collect bribes, allowing dangerously overloaded vehicles to pass freely.

Residents and commuters report similar trends along the Dambam and Bauchi routes, where road safety violations, including reckless driving and excessive loading, have become the norm.

This lack of enforcement poses significant dangers, as overloaded vehicles increase the risk of accidents, putting passengers, pedestrians, and other road users at risk. The situation also raises questions about the integrity of FRSC officials tasked with ensuring safety on Nigerian roads.
