FG Declares March 31, April 1 as Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr Celebration
The Federal Government has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the Ramadan fast.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of the holy month of fasting.
A statement signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, conveyed the Minister’s warm wishes, urging Muslims to uphold the values of Ramadan, including self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo highlighted the importance of love, forgiveness, and unity in building a harmonious society. He encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period for prayers, focusing on national peace, stability, and prosperity.
Expressing optimism, the Minister stated that Eid-el-Fitr should serve as a unifying force, fostering cooperation across religious and ethnic divides.
He also urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and safely, while extending kindness and charity to the less privileged, in keeping with the true spirit of Ramadan and Eid.
