JUST IN: NNPP Chieftains Meet Ganduje Ahead of Defection to APC
Prominent members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State have held a closed-door meeting with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as part of plans to defect to the ruling party.
The meeting, which took place recently, was attended by key political figures including the Senator representing Kano South, Sulaiman Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila; the member representing Rano/Kibiya/Bunkure federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum; the member representing Dala federal constituency, Hon. Ali Madaki; and former lawmaker for Danbatta/Makoda federal constituency, Hon. Badamasi Ayuba.
Sources close to the politicians say the move is in response to perceived injustices and marginalization within the NNPP under the leadership of Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement.
The planned defection is seen as a significant political shift in Kano State, with implications for both parties as the 2027 general elections approach.
