By Abubakar Rabilu Gombe

The Class of 1982 from Government Secondary School Billiri, under the Billiri Old Students Association (BILOSA), recently reunited after 43 years in a historic gathering that rekindled old memories and strengthened bonds.

The event, held at the Federal College of Education (Technical) Gombe, was spearheaded by the association’s Chairman, Malam Abubakar Abdullahi.

He expressed gratitude for the turnout, noting the journey of reconnecting with former classmates through personal outreach and the creation of a WhatsApp group.

“Our aim is to foster unity, provide support to members, and give back to the Billiri community,” Abdullahi stated, while urging more graduates to join future gatherings.

A highlight of the reunion was the presence of Mallam Hashim, a former Islamic Religious Knowledge teacher, whose inspiring words underscored the lasting bond between teachers and students.

The association resolved to prioritize member welfare, sharing a notable success story of constructing a home and providing medical care for a classmate facing severe challenges.

Members also discussed navigating retirement with a focus on health, active engagement, and financial prudence.

Resolutions included appointing regional coordinators, reviving the association’s bank account, and streamlining welfare guidelines.

December 2025 was proposed for the next meeting to build on the progress made.

A participant aptly described the reunion’s significance: “This is more than an association; it’s a family united by shared history.”

With 94 attendees and a strong resolve for the future, BILOSA ’82 has laid a solid foundation for sustained unity and mutual support.
