Barau FC sill in Nigerian National League Super 8 race

Barau FC are at the edge of sealing Nigerian National League Super 8 playoff after defeating the former Nigerian Premier League Team, Jigawa Golden Stars by 2- 1 at Kazaure township stadium.

The first goal was scored at seven minutes by Saidu Salisu, qJigawa Golden Stars equalised the goal at 35 minute and later Shammasu Muhd scored the winning goal at 36 minutes, giving Barau FC hopes to secure the 3 points.

The result means that Barau FC is in second place in Group C and Wikki Tourists remain the leader of the table.

Wikki Tourists top the group with 17 points, and despite the 3 draws at home, Barau FC still maintains the second position with 15 points plus three goals in ten matches. Gombe United is in the third position with 15 points plus one goal.

The away win by Barau FC served as a warning signal to Wikki Tourists in their next match at the Barau Stadium in Danbatta.

Since taking the Barau FC jobs, the former assistant coach Rabiu Tata has lifted the team from second to the last to second position in the NNL table. And they will not get carried away after their remarkable turnaround on the second stanza of the league.
