Shanono LG Chairman Distributes 300 Bags of Maize to Orphans, Persons with Disabilities
In a remarkable show of empathy and commitment to social justice, the Executive Chairman of Shanono Local Government Area, Hon. Abubakar Barau, has distributed 300 bags of maize grains to orphans and persons living with disabilities (PWDs) in various communities within the LGA.
This contained in a statement made available to the Newsmen by the Chairman’s Spokesperson Comrade Ammar Wakili Shanono.
The distribution ceremony, held at the Shanono LGA, witnessed a large turnout of beneficiaries, community leaders, religious scholars, local officials, and representatives of various support groups.
The event was part of the Chairman’s broader humanitarian agenda aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable populations.
Each beneficiary received a bag of maize, a staple food item vital for daily sustenance. The intervention comes at a time when rising food prices and economic pressures are affecting low-income households, making the gesture especially timely and impactful.
The beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman for his generosity and commitment.
Hon. Barau reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and pledged to sustain similar support programs, including educational scholarships for orphans, healthcare initiatives for the elderly and disabled, and skill acquisition programs for youth and women.
The Shanono Local Government Council has over the past months introduced various community-based projects, and this food distribution is part of an ongoing social welfare campaign driven by transparency, compassion, and service.
