Week-Long Activities Marking 2025 Children’s Day End in Yobe

As part of efforts to engage school children in celebration of the 2025 World Children’s Day, the Education Secretary of Nguru Local Government Education Authority, Alhaji Hamisu Ado, organized a week-long series of activities that brought together thousands of children and youth from across the area.

The events featured fun and competitive games including sack race, bottle race, one-leg langa tureta, filling the bottle, needle race, and marching parades, among others.

At the close of the festivities, participants were awarded trophies and other gifts. Notably, the trophies were dedicated in honor of some late Islamic scholars and renowned educationists and administrators who made significant contributions to the advancement of education in Nguru Local Government.

The honorees include:

1.Sheikh Muhammad Ngebirima

2.Sheikh Usman Fallaty

3.Alhaji Ali Bukar Gana

4.Alhaji Umaru Maso Kano

5.Hajiya Amuda Yusuf

6.Alhaji Baba Malam Wani

7.Hon. Abba Idriss Adam

8.Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Mairami

While declaring the week-long activities closed, Alhaji Hamisu Ado remarked:

“We are gathered here to commemorate the 2025 Children’s Day — a globally recognized occasion dedicated to celebrating our most precious asset: children. It is also a moment for us to reflect on how best we can support their growth and development.”

“These activities mark our commitment to the UN General Assembly’s Declaration on the Rights of the Child.”

“Today, we come together to celebrate this special day, dedicated to the well-being and development of children.”

“It is a reminder of the importance of protecting children’s rights, ensuring access to quality education, and creating opportunities for them to thrive.”

He concluded by encouraging participants, especially those who didn’t win prizes, to prepare ahead and return next year for another chance to showcase their talent and resilience.
