Minister Yusuf Abdullahi Ata Mourns Tragic Death of 19 Kano Athletes in Road Accident

The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of 19 young athletes from Kano State who died in a fatal motor accident while returning from Ogun State.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Assistant on Media, Adamu Aminu, the Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the people of Kano State, describing the incident as a profound national tragedy.

“The untimely passing of these young athletes is a devastating blow to Kano State and our nation at large,” Hon. Ata said. “We mourn the loss of their bright futures. These individuals had no premonition that the grim reaper was lurking around the corner, and their tragic demise serves as a poignant reminder of life’s fragility.”

He offered prayers for the souls of the departed, asking Allah to grant them eternal rest and to give their families the strength to endure such an irreparable loss. “May the souls of the departed athletes rest in eternal peace, and may their families find solace in the knowledge that they will always be remembered for their dedication to sports and excellence,” he added.

The Minister reaffirmed the government’s solidarity with the grieving families and emphasized the importance of honoring the lives and potential of young Nigerians whose talents contribute to national pride.

This tragic accident has cast a shadow over the sports community and the country as a whole, prompting an outpouring of sympathy and support from across the nation.
