Kano Deputy Governor Receives High-Profile Condolence Delegations Over Tragic Loss of State Athletes

The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, yesterday received an array of high-profile delegations at the Government House, Kano, who paid condolence visits following the tragic road accident that claimed the lives of 22 Kano State contingents returning from the just-concluded National Sports Festival held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The heart-wrenching incident has drawn deep sorrow across the country, particularly within the sporting and youth communities.
In an outpouring of sympathy and solidarity, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Umar Namadi, led a powerful delegation to offer his condolences and support to the government and people of Kano State.
Among other dignitaries who paid their respects were His Highness the Emir of Rano, Dr. Ambassador Muhd Isa Umaru; the Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Kaduna State, Professor Benjamin Kumai; and Commandant Shafi’u Abdulmumini of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kano State Command.
Also present were Ahmed Shu’aibu Gara, Chairman of the Gombe State Athletes Association and representatives from various organizations and institutions, including:
-The Leadership of the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), Kano State
-Coalition of Political Parties
-Turkish Embassy Liaison Office, Kano State
-AZMAN University, Kano
-Council of Imams, Kano State
-National Association of Kano State Students (NAKSS)
-National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kano State Chapter
-Informatics Students of Kura/Kazaure
-Kwankwasiyya Market Traders Forum
-‘Yanlemo Marketers Association

In his address, Deputy Governor Gwarzo expressed heartfelt gratitude to the visiting dignitaries and organizations, noting that their presence provided strength and solace to the grieving families and the entire state.
Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo disclosed that this his is a painful moment for all of us, and we find comfort in the unity and compassion shown by our brothers and sisters from across Nigeria.
He assured that the State government is working closely with the families of the deceased to ensure they receive all necessary support, and remain committed to upholding the spirit of unity and excellence that our athletes represented.
The Deputy Governor reaffirmed the Kano State Government’s resolve to honor the memories of the fallen sportsmen through memorial initiatives and improved safety measures for future contingents.
