Nigerian-American Football Association NAFA calls for Kano govt support
Nigerian -American Football Association NAFA has called on Kano state government and other stakeholders in sports to support it aimed at developing the game at grassroots levels.
The NAFA’s head of students programme, Coach Oluwatobi Abayomi Abe made the call during a two- day Nigerian American Football programme held in Kano.
The programme which attracted 12 secondary and primary schools both boys and girls across metropolitan in attendance to acquire skills, law and the rudiment of the game.
Coach Oluwatobi Abayomi Abe said that the call became necessary n order to encourage the students to develop interest on the game, as many young generations nowadays are mostly consider playing football game.
He said that Nigerian American Football is now lucrative business as players were securing scholarship and earning a huge amount in the course of their playing within and outside the country.
While expressing gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the leadership of the state ministry of education, the game masters and other partners for their unflinching support, he assured that NAFA will do everything possible to ensure Kano, Jigawa and Adamawa benefit a lot in the development of the game in the north and the country at large.
Coach Oluwatobi Abayomi Abe however, said that the NAFA has been received a support from the National Sports commission under the leadership of Malam Shehu Dikko and other partners, efforts would be intensified to organize competition at the state and national levels with a view to actualize the set objectives.
He used the medium to commended the participants for their commitment and determination despite the short notice, urging them to sustain the tempo towards the overall development of the event across the country.
The coach then applauded the NAFA for their support morally and financially towards conducting the programme across the states, pledging that he will do his best to achieve the desired goal.
Earlier, the head of school sports of Kano state ministry of education, Ibrahim Bello described the two-day programme as educative and it will ginger the students to develop the interest of the game.
Some of the schools attending the programme include Rumfa College, Government secondary schools, sSabuwar Kofar, Kofar Nasarawa, Gwale, Minjibir, Darmanawa, Gyadi Gyadi, Babbangiji and Basic College.
Highlights of the event include displaying how to handle the ball, positioning, and other tactics at the occasion.
