Tinubu Mourns Business Icon, Alhaji Aminu Dantata

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of elder statesman, renowned businessman, and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, who passed away at the age of 94 in the early hours of Saturday, June 28, 2025.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the late Dantata as a national treasure and a monumental loss to the country due to his extraordinary contributions to Nigeria’s economic development.

“Alhaji Dantata will be remembered for his industry, diligence, steadfastness, and great commitment to national unity through his many business ventures and philanthropic activities that touched countless lives of Nigerians,” Tinubu said.

The late patriarch was celebrated for his legendary business acumen and public service, having served as Commissioner for Planning and Development in the old Kano State, among other notable roles in the public sector.

President Tinubu also recalled his personal relationship with the late mogul, describing his wise counsel and support over the years as both encouraging and impactful.

He further praised Dantata’s philanthropic efforts, especially in the areas of education and healthcare, which he noted significantly improved the lives of many Nigerians.

President Tinubu extended his condolences to the Dantata family, the government, and the people of Kano State, saying Nigeria had lost one of its most illustrious sons.
