V-PeSDI Joins Cancer Advocates on Strategic Visit to Kano Cancer Center

Vulnerable People Support and Development Initiative (V-PeSDI) proudly joined other cancer advocates on a strategic visit to Nigeria’s second-largest cancer treatment center, located in Kano State.

The delegation was warmly received by the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Chris, who welcomed the team and engaged in an open dialogue on strengthening cancer care services and expanding access to early diagnosis and treatment across the country.

During the visit, V-PeSDI’s Coordinator, Hannatu Suleiman Abba, emphasized the urgent need for a sustainable support plan targeting vulnerable cancer patients who are unable to afford the high cost of medical care.

We recognize that all forms of cancer are life-threatening, but early detection can save countless lives. Unfortunately, Nigeria remains one of the countries with a high cancer burden, leading to thousands of avoidable deaths annually,” she said.

She also commended both the state and federal governments for their significant investments in the healthcare sector, particularly the advancement of cancer diagnosis and treatment facilities.

In addition, the Kano Cancer Center is truly commendable with a facility well-equipped with diagnostic and treatment machines, a clean and conducive environment, stable electricity, and a team of dedicated and professional staff.

Among the advocates are Dr Maryam Nasir Aliyu , Founder of Anatomia Education LTD and also Cancer researcher, Hajiya Hauwa Kakudi breast cancer survival, Mr Basheer Muhammad Ranccas National publicity of the Nigerian cancer society, Mansura Isa film industry celebrity and Aftahana Dahiru Sarina deputy co-ordinator V-PeSDI.

V-PeSDI’s commitment to supporting inclusive, accessible, and life-saving healthcare for all, especially the underserved using collaboration as a means.
