900 Youths Participate in Career, Business Development Training in Adamawa
By Umar Dankano, Yola
A total of 900 young men and women in Adamawa State have undergone training aimed at improving their career prospects and entrepreneurial skills.
The training, themed “Your Career Compass: Gain Clarity in Work and Business,” was conducted in Yola over the weekend, drawing participants between the ages of 18 and 35, including individuals with special needs. Participants were drawn from sectors such as agriculture, hospitality, and informal businesses.
In his welcome address, Olamide Adeyeye, Country Head of Programs at Jobberman Nigeria, explained that the initiative seeks to provide young Nigerians with tools to navigate career and business development more effectively.
Also speaking, Dr. Juliana Omale, Lead Consultant at Innovate Highfliers Consulting Ltd., delivered the keynote address, urging participants to think beyond survival and focus on long-term professional growth. She emphasized that career clarity involves positioning oneself where opportunities are available — whether through skills, business ideas, or professional conduct.
Dr. Omale highlighted that the clinic served as a platform for early-career professionals and entrepreneurs to gain insight, build capacity, and receive tailored guidance. The sessions included practical training on CV writing, interview preparation, business thinking, and model development.
Two concurrent breakout sessions were held: one focused on interview etiquette and CV review, while the other covered entrepreneurship development, particularly within the local economy.
In addition to group activities, attendees received one-on-one career counselling and CV feedback from facilitators, HR professionals, and business experts.
Some participants, including John Anthony, Peninah Ishaku, and Fatima Musa, expressed appreciation for the training, noting its relevance in addressing unemployment and business sustainability challenges.
