Neglect of Critical Infrastructure Projects in Gabasawa LG, Zakirai Town
By Rabiu Abba Zakirai
Zakirai Town in Gabasawa Local Government Area is grappling with significant challenges following the neglect of two critical infrastructure projects.
Firstly, the long-awaited upgrade of the Zakirai Primary Healthcare Centre to a secondary facility has remained stalled, despite repeated promises and discussions by relevant stakeholders.
The project is considered vital for enhancing healthcare delivery and reducing pressure on existing medical facilities within the area.
Residents are calling on the authorities to prioritize the project and ensure immediate commencement of work.
Secondly, the construction of a 5-kilometre road within Zakirai Town, which serves as the headquarters of Gabasawa Local Government, has been poorly executed. The substandard nature of the work reflects a lack of attention to detail and inadequate planning.
The road has become hazardous, particularly during the rainy season, posing difficulties for residents and disrupting economic activities. The shoddy workmanship suggests that the concerns and welfare of the local population were not adequately considered.
Community members are urging the authorities to reassess and rectify the situation by completing the road to an acceptable standard.
Residents express hope that the authorities will treat these concerns with the seriousness they deserve and take prompt action to address the issues, thereby improving the living conditions in Zakirai Town.
