Drug Baron’s Bail: Governor Yusuf Orders Probe Into Kano Transport Commissioner’s Alleged Role

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ordered an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the alleged involvement of the State Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi, in the controversial bail of a suspected drug baron, Sulaiman Aminu Dan Wawu.

The governor’s directive comes amid public outrage following reports that the Commissioner’s name appeared in official court documents used to facilitate the suspect’s release.

This was made known in a press statement issued on Saturday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

To handle the investigation, Governor Yusuf has constituted a special investigative committee, chaired by his Special Adviser on Justice and Constitutional Matters, Barrister Aminu Hussain. The committee is tasked with uncovering the facts surrounding the bail process and recommending appropriate actions.

Members of the committee are as follows:

1. Barr. Aminu Hussain – Chairman

2. Barr. Hamza Haladu – Member

3. Barr. Hamza Nuhu Dantani – Member

4. Alhaji Abdullahi Mahmoud Umar – Member

5. Maj. Gen. Sani Muhammad (Rtd.) – Member

6. Comrade Kabiru Said Dakata – Member

7. Hajiya Bilkisu Maimota – Secretary

While announcing the formation of the committee, Governor Yusuf expressed deep concern over the allegations, reiterating his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on drug abuse and other social vices.

The governor assured the public that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law, emphasizing his commitment to accountability and good governance.
