Food Security: Sen. Barau Distributes 37,880 Bags of Fertiliser to Kano farmers

To enhance food security in the country, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has commenced the distribution of 37,880 bags of fertiliser to farmers across Kano State.

The distribution of the commodity was flagged off on Sunday with the local government areas in Kano North Senatorial District, according to a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Deputy President of the Senate, Alhaji Ismail Mudashir.

Senator Barau distributes fertiliser to farmers across Kano State annually to boost their output and attain food security in the country.

Speaking during the distribution exercise.
Senator Barau, represented by his Chief of Staff, Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdallah, said the initiative was conceived to complement the Federal Government’s efforts to attain food security in the country.

“As we do every year, we are here again to distribute fertiliser to Kano State farmers. This fertiliser is provided free of charge. No farmer is expected to pay a single Kobo. This initiative complements the Federal Government’s efforts to achieve food sufficiency in the nation.

” We are already seeing positive changes and hope this intervention will play a vital role. Empowering our farmers is crucial, as they are the backbone of rural development. Without farmers, there would be no food,” he said.

He urged beneficiaries to make the best use of the fertiliser and assured them that he would continue collaborating with relevant agencies to support agricultural development in Kano State and beyond.

Some beneficiaries interviewed during the distribution expressed their gratitude to the Deputy President of the Senate, describing him as an outstanding leader who cares for his people at times.

“Senator Barau is an exceptional leader. He supports us with fertiliser every year to ensure our farming is successful. We are grateful to him and will show our appreciation in our way. May Almighty Allah grant him all he desires in this life and the hereafter,” stated Mallam Ibrahim Musa Bagwai.
