The Yobe State Government has clarified that the Nigerian Army Special Forces School in Buni Yadi remains fully operational, dismissing concerns about its status following the establishment of a new Special Forces School in Doma, Nasarawa State.
In an official statement, Brig. Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Yobe State Governor, confirmed that the Buni Yadi facility has been redesignated as the Nigerian Army Acclimatization Centre.
He explained that the Centre continues to perform its vital role of conducting pre-deployment training and acclimatization for troops assigned to the Northeast Theatre of Operations.
Gen. Abdulsalam further noted that while the Nigerian Army’s new Special Forces Command Headquarters in Doma required a co-located training school, the Buni Yadi facility remains a strategic hub for preparing troops engaged in counterinsurgency operations.
“The school in Buni Yadi is not relocating—it remains fully active and integral to military operations in the Northeast,” he assured.
He also commended the people of Yobe State for their unwavering support to the Nigerian Army and their commitment to peace and security in the region.
The statement reassured the public that the Buni Yadi facility retains its critical role in national security, strengthening Yobe State’s position as a key contributor to Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts.
