NSCDC Arrests Four in Gombe Over Power Vandalism, Rape Allegations

From Abubakar Rabilu Gombe

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Gombe State has arrested four suspects in separate incidents involving the vandalism of electrical installations and the alleged rape of a minor.

Parading the suspects at the command headquarters, the State Commandant, Idris Jibrin, represented by the Public Relations Officer, SC Buhari Sa’ad, said two men were apprehended for allegedly vandalising critical national assets.

He identified the suspects as 18-year-old Salisu Mohammed of Idi Quarters, Gombe, and Mohammed Dahiru Babayo of Unguwar Dawaki.

Sa’ad disclosed that vandalised aluminium wires were recovered from a shop owned by Salisu at Unguwa Uku.

He added that investigation was ongoing and the suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion.

In a separate case, the NSCDC also arrested a 48-year-old tailor, Ibrahim Haruna, and his 15-year-old son, Abdullahi Ibrahim, for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl at different times.

According to Sa’ad, Haruna was accused of assaulting the victim in his shop, while his son allegedly committed the act within their compound at Jekadafari Quarters in Gombe Local Government Area.

He explained that investigations into the matter had been concluded, assuring that the duo would soon face prosecution.

Haruna, however, denied the allegation, claiming he only touched the girl playfully.

The NSCDC said the victim’s identity has been withheld in line with child protection protocols.
