The MAAUN Group, which includes Maryam Abacha American University of Niger (Maradi), and Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (Kano), Franco-British International University (Kaduna) and the Canadian University of Nigeria (Abuja), has long championed the cause of educational internationalization.
For Prof. Gwarzo, this agreement is not just a document but a strategic leap forward:
“This partnership reflects our unwavering commitment to building bridges across continents, ensuring that African students and faculty are not only part of global conversations in research and innovation but are also leading them,” he said.
What the MoU Covers

Other involves Flfaculty and staff development offering education consultancy, collaborative program development, and capacity-building initiatives; and joint recruitment enhancing opportunities for African students to access Seneca and Canadian higher education.
Furthermore, the research and innovation support that lead to opening new avenues for joint academic projects and knowledge exchange also unfolded.
Redefining Africa’s Global Academic Standing
Experts say the MoU signals a larger movement with African universities shifting from being knowledge consumers to knowledge producers. By linking African institutions with global counterparts, leaders like Prof. Gwarzo are reimagining the role of education in addressing 21st-century challenges.
Building a Future of Shared Innovation
The MAAUN-Seneca agreement reflects a broader trend of cross-continental alliances that blend Africa’s youthful population and entrepreneurial drive with advanced research systems in the West.
Prof. Gwarzo noted that the partnership would “lay a strong foundation for long-term cooperation in teaching, research, and innovation,” stressing that the ultimate beneficiaries would be students who gain access to world-class education without borders.
With this MoU, MAAUN Group of Universities has once again positioned itself as a trailblazer in international higher education innovation, reaffirming Prof. Gwarzo’s vision of turning African institutions into global hubs of knowledge, creativity, and leadership.
